Riding promotes ...
Instruction
I believe that one of the best things you can do for your horse is to become a better rider!
Lessons focus on:
  • Developing your seat: position, balance and alignment
  • Learning and understanding the aids for communicating with your horse
  • Progressive training for horse and rider, with an emphasis on dressage
  • Safe and knowledgeable horsemanship, and ...
  • Enjoyment!
Dressage training is for all horses and riders! Progressive training for strength, balance, endurance and flexibility is relevant for all styles of riding and breeds of horses. You’ll build a harmonious relationship with your horse as he develops his full potential as a willing and healthy equine athlete. Dressage fundamentals have also helped my clients’ horses perform their best in eventing, show jumping, show hack, reining and cattle drives too!

New riders learn all aspects of horsemanship, with safety as the number one priority. Introductory lessons can include handling, grooming and saddling the horse. All lessons are private, allowing individuals to advance as quickly or slowly as each rider needs with the benefit of personal, one-on-one attention. Developing solid fundamentals and building confidence helps riders to progress more quickly in the long run.

More advanced riders progress to jumping, higher levels of dressage, trail riding, and more. There are opportunities to compete at all levels throughout Southern California; coaching is available in Open Dressage and Arabian Sport Horse competitions.

All instruction incorporates the Classical Training Scale: a system of progressive education for horse and rider. To find out about this and other concepts of dressage training, you can learn more on my links page.

If you’re new to horse ownership, want to build your confidence around horses, or want the best possible relationship with your horse, horsemanship or “groundwork” lessons will improve your understanding and effectiveness. Learning to “think like a horse” and communicate in a way that makes sense to them will help to keep you safe and enjoy a real relationship with these wonderful animals.
